New Councillors take Oath of Office

September 21, 2017 by Merilyn Vale

Councillors after taking their Oath of Office.

Central Coast, you voted in six Labor, four Liberals and five independents to make up this historic first council.

Each ward voted almost exactly the same: electing one  independent, one Liberal and one Labor candidate to make up the new Central Coast Council.

Only Budgewoi ward bucked the trend, electing two Labor candidates and one independent.

The Councillors took the Oath of Office on Thursday, September 21 at Wyong with new CEO Brian Bell officiating.

The Councillors are:

Budgewoi: Doug Vincent, ALP; Jillian Hogan, ALP; and Greg Best, Ind.

Wyong: Kyle MacGregor, ALP; Louise Greenaway, Ind; and Chris Bourke, Lib.

The Entrance: Lisa Matthews, ALP; Jilly Pillon, Lib; and Bruce McLachlan, Ind.

West: Richard Mehrtens, ALP; Troy Marquart, Lib; and Chris Holstein, Ind.

East: Rebecca Gale Collins, Lib; Jeff Sundstrom, ALP; and Jane Smith, Ind.

The 15 Councillors will vote for their Mayor on Monday, September 25.

The Oath of Office:

“I will undertake the duties of the office of
Councillor in the best interests of the people of the Central Coast and the
Central Coast Council and that I will faithfully and impartially carry out the
functions, powers, authorities and discretions vested in me under the Local
Government Act 1993 or any other Act to the best of my ability and judgment.”
