Look who is – and who isn’t – on these six advisory committees

The Mayor is on every one of the six committees listed below but four councillors are not on any of these going to council for ratification on Monday night.

The four councillors are Greg Best, Chris Burke, Lisa Matthews and Jillian Hogan.

Only six community members applied to be on the Gosford CBD and Waterfront Advisory Committee which could have accepted up to eight community members.

By contrast, the Heritage Advisory Committee had 12 community applications and ten people were accepted.

A total of 48 applications from community members were received for the six advisory committees and 39 positions filled.

Below are the names of both the community and the councillor representatives that will go to the council meeting on Monday night, April 9, for ratification.

The Catchments and Coast Committee – Brisbane Water and Gosford Lagoons

Community: (a) Ian Carruthers; (b) Andrew Jones; (c) Michael Kilp; (d) Jenny McCulla; (e) Adrian Williams; and (f) Samantha Willis.

Councillors: Mayor Smith; Councillor Marquart; and Councillor Mehrtens.

The Catchments and Coast  – Tuggerah Lakes

Community: (a) Michael Campbell; (b) Douglas Darlington; (c) Robert Davies; (d) Graham Hankin; (e) Marlene Pennings; and (f) Samantha Willis.

Councillors: Mayor Smith; Councillor Greenaway; Councillor Pilon; and Councillor Vincent.

Coastal Open Space (COSS) Committee

Community: (a) John Andrews; (b) David Holland; (c) Deb Holloman; (d) Paul Links; and (e) Barbara Willis.

Councillors: Mayor Smith, Councillor Holstein; Councillor Greenaway; and Councillor Sundstrom.

Heritage Advisory Committee

Community: Warren Andrews; (b) David Benwell; (c) Walter Billington; (d) Margot Castles; (e) Gary Dean; (f) Sandra Hunt-Sharman; (g) Verena Mauldon; (h) Joseph Murray; (i) Prue Wyllie; and (j) Kreenah Yelds.

Councillors: Mayor Smith, Councillor Greenaway; Councillor MacGregor; Councillor Sundstrom; and Councillor Vincent.

The Gosford CBD and Waterfront Advisory Committee

Community: Michael Conroy; (b) Joy Cooper; (c) Rod Dever; (d) Dianne Haydon; (e) Chris Krogh; and (f) Edwina Nikora.

Councillors: Mayor Smith; Councillor Gale Collins; Councillor Greenaway; Councillor Holstein; Councillor MacGregor; and Councillor Mehrtens.

Employment and Economic Development Committee

Community membership: (a) William Adames; (b) John Asquith; (c) Mike Goodman; (d) Michael Pilon; and (e) Brad Wilson.

Councillors: Mayor Smith; Councillor Gale Collins; Councillor Holstein; Councillor MacGregor; Councillor McLachlan; and Councillor Pilon.

Nine councillors met in March to review the expressions of interest for the positions.

Those who didn’t attend were: Greg Best, Kyle MacGregor, Richard Mehrtens, Chris Burke and Jillian Hogan. Councillor Troy Marquart is on medical leave but has put his name forward to be on the Catchment and Coast Committee – Brisbane Water.

During the process for the Employment and Economic Development Committee, Councillor Pilon declared a pecuniary interest as her husband, Michael Pilon, had nominated.

He was accepted onto the list that will go to the full council to vote on, this coming Monday night.

The community representatives will be undergo Code of Conduct training before any of the groups meet.

Councillors Hogan and Matthews are members of the already established Status of Women’s Advisory Committee with Cr Mathews chair of that group.

There are possibly more advisory groups to be formed.
