A win for Ourimbah residents

  Updated with ORRA member Brian Davies' speech to the June 25 Council-under-administration meeting. Land at 1A Jaques St will return to community ownership with Council buying it from Newcastle Uni for $1, if the administrator agrees on July 25. Highlights of the June meeting 2023

Public Forum trial is cancelled. The standard public forum of having the residents speak immediately before the Council-under-administration meeting will return. For the last two meetings, the public forum was held 24 hours early and only one person spoke each time. Call for council to halt kids’ sports $ increases

Children’s sport costs will increase from July 1 unless Administrator Rik Hart can be persuaded to change the operational plan in the final week before it is due to be implemented. Council has so far refused to budge from a decision to cut its subsidy for junior sport from 50 per cent to 25 per cent.
