Next meeting: June 27

June 8, 2023 by Merilyn Vale

The June meeting of the Council will be held on June 27.

The agenda should contain the operational plan and budget for the next financial year which starts  a mere four days later.

The public forum will be held on the Monday, June 26 – if anyone speaks.

May

There are was only one speaker at the May public forum which was the first held on the Monday preceding the meeting.

The forum is being held the day before for a three month trial.

A group of regular speakers signed a letter condemning the move, saying it was another erosion of democracy.

“Council Senior Managers want to undermine the effectiveness of the Forum by separating it from the Council meeting,” the letter said.

“They want the Forum to be held on a separate day.
“Residents will have to attend two meetings rather than one, and the process will cost more.
“It is obvious that the main purpose of the change is to reduce the impact of the Public Forum on Council meetings.
“Council Managers will also control the public narrative as their words will be the only words heard and reported on the night of the Council meeting,” the letter said.

April

The April Council meeting will be held on April 26, a day later than usual because the Tuesday is Anzac Day.

The agenda for the meeting should be published on the Friday before; April 21.

Meeting starts at 5.45pm if people have registered to speak on any of the items on the agenda.

If there are no speakers, the meeting will start at 6.30pm.

All council meetings are held at the Wyong Council building in Hely St, Wyong.
