Rail site should be Warnervale not Kangy Angy says council

November 29, 2017 by Merilyn Vale

Council will ask Transport NSW to move the site of the proposed rail maintenance depot from Kangy Angy to Warnervale.

Mayor Jane Smith said Council was supportive of a rail maintenance centre for the local jobs it would create but wanted the right location.

“Warnervale is where the growth on the Coast will be, where there is the space and industrial land to accommodate a facility of this size and scale,” Mayor Jane Smith said.

‘The State Government have changed their minds on other key issues for the State, and we are asking for them to make the right decision for the Central Coast.”
Council agreed at its November 27 meeting to ask the State Government to change sites.

In 2014 a Transport NSW consultant report recommended land adjacent to the Link Road at Warnervale was the ideal site instead of Kangy Angy.
