Welcome to journalist Merilyn Vale’s website.

After Facebook knocked me out along with the major media outlets in February 18, 2021, I vowed to crankup this website, dedicated to watching the Central Coast Council on behalf of fair-minded and reasonable people.

But then Facebook allowed me back in, and I stopped posting my stories here again.

But I have cranked it up – again – from May 24, 2022.

All stories I write are posted to my facebook page of the same name and I am publishing the  important ones here for posterity.

I began operating from early September 2017 when the NSW Central Coast Council election took place.

I cover each council meeting and post council decisions as they happen.

I also keep an eye on the Local Planning Panel and any other Council issue.

My role is to share the Council news that residents might not get from any other source.

The Council runs a facebook page and website if you want the official news. I am not associated with Council. I am a journalist.

I have a degree in Communications and did my cadetship at the Central Coast Express in the 1980s.

I was the editor of the The Glebe in Sydney’s inner west for many years and the editor-in-chief of Quest newspapers in Brisbane from 1996 through to 2003.

I was a trainer of journalists and other staff for Fairfax Newspapers’ Rural Press division: 2009 – 2016.
