Council’s economic development committee has agreed the process of selecting an air show operator for Warnervale.
The committee met on October 7 and voted to suspend the process pending any further offers.
Councillors previously voted to commence a process to select a suitable operator to hold an air show in the 2026-27 financial year.
But a report to the committee states that no offers have been received to run a show from any of the three main independent air show operators in Australia.
“A period of 12 to 15 months from the signing of an event operator licence agreement to the conduct of an air show is considered to be realistic,” the report notes.
The airport was featured in the The Sydney Morning Herald yesterday, with the emphasis on the masterplan.
The Central Coast Aero Club posted a link to the story saying the masterplan promises to be a game changer for the region.
It says it is “Forecast to turn the current very small deficit of $158k annually into a $979,000 profit within 7 years”.
“Importantly for the Aero Club, the certainty this plan will provide will allow the CCAC to reach its full potential, giving us the ability to action plans to significantly upgrade our infrastructure to meet the huge demand for aviation and aerospace training – both on the pilot side, but perhaps even more importantly on the engineering and maintenance side as well,” the post states.
