Learn how to comment on development proposals

August 14, 2023 by Merilyn Vale

Understand the building approval process as it goes through Council.

A free introductory Workshop on Council Planning being held by the Peninsula Residents Association at Everglades Country Club on August 27.

Formed in 2021, the Peninsula Residents Association seeks to give a collective, non partisan community voice on matters concerning liveability and the environment on the Woy Woy peninsula.

Did you know you can comment on proposed development in your area?

Do you use the Council eplanning portal?

Or, is it more like, ummmm, what IS the Council eplanning portal?

If these are questions that have crossed your mind, consider attending the session which starts at 3.30pm.

The group says many residents would like to understand how their feedback can contribute, but are overwhelmed by the development process and don’t know where to start.

The short “for dummies” style workshop will show how important community input is in the DA process, and how easy it is for people to say how they may be impacted by a development, PRA vice chair Julian Bowker said.

The workshop will run for about an hour.
PRA members will be available afterwards for Q and A, should participants have specific queries.

The workshop starts at 3.30pm in the Star room.

Participants will be introduced to the Planning Portal and relevant development standard documents.

They will have the opportunity to learn how to make a submission online or on paper.

Everglades Country Club is located on Dunban Road, Woy Woy. Drinks and refreshments are sold at the club.

Everyone is welcome to attend, the group says.
