Advisory committees to be dissolved

August 26, 2024 by Merilyn Vale

Seven of ten advisory committees that have been operating under administrator Rik Hart’s tenure will be officially dissolved at the final council-under-administration meeting on August 27.
Dissolving the committees is recommended and Mr Hart is expected to accept that recommendation.
The new council that is elected on September 14 will be able to choose new committees – if it wants.
Advisory committees are typically formed for the term of the Council only.
“Dissolution of certain committees will enable the newly elected Council establish those Advisory Committees it believes are appropriate to meet Council’s priorities and strategies as outlined
in the Community Strategic Plan and to provide for appropriate Councillor representation on the Committees,” the report states.
“It is important to acknowledge and thank the members of these committees for their hard work and dedication.
‘Their contributions have been valuable to informing and guiding
Council’s activities and decisions, particularly whilst under administration.”

Three other committees that will continue are the Aboriginal Advisory Committee; the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC) and the Protection of the Environment Trust Management Committee (POET).
Council hasn’t explained why the Aboriginal committee is not being dissolved other than to explain that its role is to identify, examine, and formulate a collective response to issues that affect the Central Coast Aboriginal community.
ARIC has to continue to operate, under the Local Government Act; and POET is aligned to a Trust and is not be dissolved but the community representatives will be declared vacant, nominations called for and new representatives elected.
The advisory committees that are being dissolved are shown below.

    Hi Merilyn,
My enquiry is somewhat “off tract”!
Where do I find out each Candidate’s “Resume”?
    Their Education Qualifications?
    Their Employment Hx,
    WWC Check?
What they want to achieve if Elected?
Are they Available to perform their Duties if Elected, and commit to their Responsibilities, in Attending Council Meetings?
How long they have lived on the Central Coast!
Who they will give their Preferences Too?
The only People I know are Mckinna, Eaton, and Best!
Needless to say, they won’t get my Precious Vote!
Hope you can help steer me in the Right Direction!
    Cheers,
    Kerrie

See five posts in latest news here on my website introducing candidates from each ward. Apart from that, you can try the electoral commission. Some candidates submitted a bit of information but not many. Coast Community News is also putting together what it can next week. Trouble is, some candidates are not giving us a lot of information and some candidates have no contact details on the electoral commission so that makes it a bit hard.
