Thanks to a Federal Government grant, Council is now preparing to ask the administrator Rik Hart to adopt a waterfront route for section five of the Tuggerawong bike path.
Despite overwhelming community support for the waterfront route, council had decided in the past to plan a cheaper route (option c) through some nearby streets (see diagram below).
But now, with the extra money, Council wants to change back to the waterfront route, option A.
If Mr Hart agrees at the November 28 Council-under administration meeting, the community will be consulted on the final design detail for Option A.
Design would commence in financial year 2024-25 and construction would begin in 2025-26 and take two years to complete.
The project is funded by a combination of Development Contributions and grant funding.
Council’s Section 7.12 Development Contribution Plan commits $42.4M in funding for Central Coast Bike Plan priority projects – with Tuggerawong Foreshore Stage 5 one of those projects.
