Councillors push for bike paths and wave parks – and give up on Chinese theme parks
• Cr McLachlan wants council to find a good location for a major water theme park here on the coast and to start talking to interested parties to make it happen.
• Cr Greenaway wants to know how much money council would get if it sold the 15.77 hectares in Warren Rd, Warnervale that was once earmarked for an Australian-Chinese theme park.
She is asking for a report back from the CEO by November 26.
• Cr Hogan wants council to include plans for a shared pathway between Mannering Park and Chain Valley Bay ASAP. She says the link is not included on the latest footpath or bike path plans for future funding and priority despite community groups continually engaging with staff, attending all workshops and having the second highest response on the coast to the interactive map process.
They also sent in a petition with more than 1000 signatures supporting the idea.
Cr Hogan says the the foreshore link meets all the objectives articulated in exhibited plans and vision statements.
Her motion (which is bound to get passed on Monday night as the ALP councillors usually have the numbers) will request the chief executive officer review the plan/s and come up with the safest and preferred shared pathway route and to make it a priority for future funding.
These are three of the councillor-initiated debates to be held this Monday night at the next council meeting.
As usual, I will be there to post live as the night unfolds.
