IPART wants to hear from you

Who’s drinking brown water?

IPART wants to hear your water stories

The Independent Pricing & Regulatory Tribunal has urged Coasties to share your water quality stories before the deadline of close of business on Friday, November 28.

IPART chair Carmel Donnelly said to send her an email as short or as detailed as you like.

“I just want to let you know, I mean, they don’t have to be long,” she said.

“You’re welcome to put a lot of detail in, but you’re also welcome to

just make it very brief, and all the information on our website is there for you to look at, the information submitted by Council, and how to make a submission,” she said.

Ms Donnelly was speaking at the public hearing, held on November 20.

Resident Kevin Brooks led the community questioning of Council’s proposal to increase water and sewer rates by 8 per cent plus CPI.

He says the 58 per cent increase from the last proposal four years ago has not resulted in improvements so why should anyone expect improvements this time around.
“Central Coast remains the lowest rated utility in IPART’s customer satisfaction surveys, with no improvement in its survey results over the past four years,” Mr Brooks said.
“Most of Council’s own performance indicators have gone backwards over the same period.
“So, why should customers face another big increase of 11.1% next July – 8% plus inflation – when Council hasn’t delivered its promises to improve performance after the last massive increase?
“Council should now make good those promises before it receives any more extra money.
“Council should focus on better management, efficiency and productivity.”
