Central Coast Council Watch

An invitation to advise council

February 13, 2018 by Merilyn Vale

If you want to attempt to influence council, put your hand up to join one of six advisory committees.

The six key groups are:

  • Brisbane Water Catchment
  • Tuggerah Lakes Catchment
  • Coastal Open Spaces
  • Employment and Economic Development
  • Gosford CBD and Waterfront
  • Heritage

Mayor Jane Smith said these represented council’s key strategic areas.

“This is a real opportunity for those with a real passion, interest and expertise in our environment, waterways, economic development and heritage to bring that to the table and directly feed into Council decision-making,” she said.

“We are a large council area, representing over 330,000 residents and we need to ensure we are providing as many avenues as possible for community voice and representation and these groups are one part of that.”

The six groups will include council staff, Councillors and the community representatives.

Expressions of Interest will be open for 28 days from about February 22  to March 21.

Recommendations on appointments will go to the council meeting of April 9.
